You’ve Got Questions. I’ve Got Answers.
HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
Sessions are $145 for individuals and $170 for couples and/or families.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Currently, I accept cash, debit/credit cards, HSA and FSA. I am an out-of-network/private-pay provider, however upon request, I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement depends upon your out-of-network benefits. Consult your insurance provider for more details.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PAYING OUT OF POCKET VERSUS USING INSURANCE?
1. Insurance requires a diagnosis in order to cover you, which becomes part of your permanent record and might compromise future insurance coverage. 2. Insurance makes the final call on how many sessions, how often and treatment goals versus you and your therapist deciding what works best. 3. Insurance can also request case notes or summaries, which limits confidentiality.
HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
Typically, we will meet weekly to start. However, as a client-centered therapist, I let you lead your change process when it comes to scheduling. I am flexible and will work with you on a gameplan that feels good to you, whether it be biweekly or even monthly sessions. Therapy can last from several weeks to years depending on your goals and preferences.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, the full session fee will be charged. While charging my clients for sessions they do not attend is not an easy or fun thing, it is important that I demonstrate boundaries if I am encouraging my clients to set healthy boundaries in their own lives. Boundaries are the distance at which I can be kind to you and to me simultaneously.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST SESSION?
At the first session, we will get to know each other and feel out if we are a good fit. I will ask you information-gathering questions about your story and your hopes for therapy. I can also answer questions you might have about myself or the therapy process in general. If we decide to move forward, we will map out a gameplan to tackle your goals and schedule our regular session time. Payment will be due at the end of the first session via an app I use called IVY.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via the contact link at the top.
NO SURPRISES ACT:
In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.” This Act requires that we notify you of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, if a client is uninsured or if a client elects not to use their insurance. Additionally, we are required to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services upon request and/or prior to your first scheduled appointment. Although it is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental healthcare, as each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental healthcare, a Good Faith Estimate will be provided and reassessed as needed. Your Rights Under This New Act: 1. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. 2. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. 3. Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. 4. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. 5. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises, or call 1-800-985-3059.
